"How to Choose a Profession": Representatives of York University Discussed This
As part of career orientation activities, representatives of the European Campus of York University visited the "Gazprom Armenia" Educational and Sports Complex.
Before the meeting began, Elena Amirkhanyan, the deputy director for academic and educational work, addressed the high school students: "We regularly hold meetings aimed at career orientation, and this is one of them. Today, you will learn how to choose a profession and get acquainted with York University. I would like to remind you that two of our graduates are already studying at this university."
Wishing the meeting a successful outcome, Elena Amirkhanyan handed the floor to Grigory Dikeos, the director of student recruitment at the European Campus of York University.
Welcoming those present, the director of student recruitment expressed his pleasure in being in Armenia and engaging with the younger generation. He emphasized that one must be very cautious and calculative when choosing a profession, as times change quickly, and a beloved specialty may become outdated and unnecessary.
"When choosing a profession, you need to ask yourself questions: what interests us, and what is the reality? Perhaps the specialty we are interested in no longer has a place in real life, and if we make the wrong choice, we may have to start all over again," said Grigory Dikaios.
The guest also noted that once the question of choosing a profession is resolved, it is equally important to approach the choice of a university with the same seriousness, taking into account several factors such as the university's ranking, the number of researchers, opportunities for scientific advancement, availability of scholarships, etc.
At the end of the meeting, Grigory Dikeos also introduced the European Campus of York University and its educational programs, noting that students can contact him personally for detailed information about the admission process.
