ESC students' project presented at the GLOBE 2026 International Virtual Scientific Symposium

Students of the Gazprom Armenia CJSC Educational and Sports Complex participated in the NASA GLOBE environmental study program as part of their Geography curriculum.

The goal of the program is to increase interest in nature and the environment while developing students' research skills.

The research conducted by our 7th-grade "B" students—Mariam Mkrtchyan, Emilia Mkrtchyan, Isabella Azatyan, Ani Matevosyan, Lili Arsenyan, and Mari Martirosyan—lasted several months. They monitored the leaf fall of the birch tree growing in the schoolyard and discovered that this year, the birch leaves fell later than the recorded norm due to an increase in temperature. The research results were uploaded to the GrowApp application, which displayed the gradual change in leaf color and the timing of leaf fall.

According to subject teacher Lusine Hakobyan, by participating in this program, students develop scientific thinking and become proficient in collecting data, making measurements, and analyzing results.

The research work, after being summarized, was submitted to the international virtual scientific symposium GLOBE 2026, which featured more than 330 projects from 26 countries.

The ESC students' project was praised and earned them the right to wear badges in the following categories: “I am an Earth Systems Scientist,” “I am a Collaborator,” and “I am a GLOBE Researcher.”

We congratulate our students and wish them continued success in their future achievements.
