Chess Successes Ahead of the New School Year
At the "Educational-Sports Complex" of Gazprom Armenia CJSC, significant emphasis is placed on chess instruction. In addition to the standard curriculum, an "Olympic-level" chess club is available for students.
Throughout the year, our students participate in school-level, national, and international competitions, enhancing their athletic rankings and achieving top positions.
Notably, during the past academic year, the following students achieved 4th rank: Arina Peshkova (3rd Russian-language class), Hayk Papikyan (3rd "D" class), Alex Tunyan (3rd "E" class), Hakob Hakobyan (4th "C" class), and Aleksandr Baghdasaryan (4th "C" class). Additionally, Mikayel Darbinyan (Grade 2A), Tatev Yuzbashyan (Grade 5A), and Emma Ghambaryan (Grade 6E) qualified for the 3rd sports rank.
Armen Arzumanyan (Grade 5E) and Mikayel Margaryan (Grade 6A) have qualified for the second sports rank.
Tigran Petrosyan, a student in Grade 7B, has qualified for the first sports rank.
It is worth noting that second-grader Mikayel Darbinyan was the sole winner in the Under-7 category at the prestigious 19th Poti International Chess Festival – Nana Aleksandria Cup 2026, held in Poti, Georgia. Mikayel scored 7.5 points out of a possible 9.
We congratulate our chess players and their coaches on these achievements and wish them continued success.
